Statehood Day 2023 – Kentucky State Day is a holiday celebrated on the 1st of every year. People from across the country gather on the day to commemorate and celebrate the country’s admission to the Confederation of States. It happened on the same day in 1792, becoming the 15th state to do so.
The area of Fincastle County west of the mountain range stretching to the river, formerly known as the Bluegrass State Territory, was split off as a separate county from the Bluegrass State by act of the Virginia General Assembly in December 1776. The district court was called Harrod’s Town or Oldtown. In 1780, the county was divided into Thomas Jefferson, Lincoln, and Fayette counties. However, the Bluegrass State District remained in charge while new counties were formed.

Residents of the area repeatedly petitioned the General Assembly and the Confederate Congress for statehood and secession from Virginia. Between 1784 and 1792, Danville held 10 constitutional sessions. In early July 1788, a petition signed by Virginia was presented to the Confederate Congress. Unfortunately, it was just a day after news of New Hampshire’s crucial ninth ratification of the proposed Constitution that effectively cemented it as the United States’ new governmental framework. In light of this development, Congress ruled that admitting Kentucky into the Union was “inadvisable” because it was possible only “under the Articles of Confederation,” not “under the Constitution,” and therefore refused.

Virginia rejoined the state of Kentucky in December 1789. In February 1791, the United States Congress gave its approval. Vermont’s petition was approved by Congress a short time later. On June 1, 1792, K.Y. was admitted into the union and became the 15th state. Isaac Shelby, a military veteran from Virginia, was appointed the state’s first governor.

Saint Wenceslas Day is also the feast day of Saint Wenceslas, Duke of Bohemia and patron saint of the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, he was the victim of an assassination attempt orchestrated by Boleslav, his own brother.
Wenceslaus reigned from 922 when he was 15 due to his father’s death in 921. He had a vision of uniting Bohemia and making peace with Germany, but this was met with great hesitation by his brother Boleslav and the rest of the family. In an attempt to gain power, Boleslav killed Wenceslaus and the families of Wenceslaus’ followers. After that, Wenzel was canonized because he died a martyr’s death. He was also posthumously conferred the title of king by the Holy Roman Emperor Otto I. This is the same King Wenzel mentioned in the Christmas carol Good King Wenzel.
Saint Wenceslaus is a famous saint and martyr and played an important role in the consolidation of the Přemyslid dynasty and the emancipation of the Czech state. In the past, Saint Wenceslas Day was always an important day for the Czech Republic, but thanks to the efforts of the Christian Democratic Party, it also became a national and public holiday (State Day) in 2000 and is celebrated every year. Actually, there are two holidays
