What 2023 Te Jackson Mcgohan’s Commitment Means For Lsu
LSU football signed most of its 2023 class on the first signing day of December. He is currently ranked No. 6 overall according to 247 Sports. Note that the Tigers have five of the top 100 players join the team in the 2023 class. The team has several 5-star prospects and players to fill needed positions. However, Coach Kelly’s expectation for young players to play in 2022 begs the question of whether the same approach will work in 2023.
Arguably the most valuable prospect in LSU’s 2023 class on National Signing Day, Dashaw Womack has the potential to make an immediate impact on the LSU football defensive line. He will surely help fill the void left by Ali Gaye and BJ Ojulari. Both entered the 2023 NFL Draft. Despite bringing the Patriots through the transition portal, Womack’s intangibles make him a significant contender for playing time this coming season. Of course, that’s still up for debate if he does well in the spring. Standing at 6’4 and weighing 240 pounds, Womack has the body and the tools. He also saw a process improvement that would help improve recruiting and put more emphasis on competition. Expect Womack to make a quick impact with his size and strength.

Tight end Ka’Morreun Pimpton was a late addition to LSU’s 2023 class on National Signing Day. He joined the Tigers after transferring from Vanderbilt in his freshman year. As one of the nation’s top tight ends and a key position of interest for LSU, look for the Tigers to take full advantage of Pimpton’s talents. Although LSU already has Mason Taylor as their tight end of the future, Pimpton has the ability to make an impact quickly. Remember he is one of the best receivers in the country. The combination of Taylor and Pimpton promises to be lethal for the Tigers in the long run. Standing at 6’6 and 220 pounds, Pimpton is already built for the college game. In his senior year of high school, he rose to national recognition. With his physicality and receiver ability at tight end, Pimpton has all the tools to make an immediate impact for LSU in 2023.
Jalen Brown is rated as one of the top receivers in the 2023 class. In fact, he was named MaxPreps Junior All-American second-team offense and a Miami Herald All-Dade 5A-IND selection. During the 2022 season, he caught 22 passes for 401 yards and scored three touchdowns. This could give coach Kelly a goal on fire.

Trey Holley, a graduate of Union Parish High School in Farmerville, broke Nick Brossett’s rushing record with 10,523 yards as a sophomore. In fact, in his final season in 2022, Holley led his team to a state championship. For the season, he rushed for 2,694 yards and scored 38 touchdowns. Should be an attractive weapon for the Tigers in the backfield.
It will be interesting to see where Javin Toviano fits into LSU’s defense. Originally expected to play cornerback, signing a fourth cornerback from the transfer portal gives Toviano more versatility. It can be played with a nickel, a safety or a ten. Plus, his combination of talent and outside talent could be an impact in his first year. At 6’0 and 180 pounds, Toviano continues to build his body to the next level. After dominating Texas high school wrestling for four years, he expects to turn heads this spring.
