Earth Day Images 2023 – By Resolution A/RES/63/278, the United Nations established International Earth Day, which has been held on April 22 since 2009. The Bolivian state proposed a resolution that was accepted by more than 50 member states. The resolution recognizes that the Earth and its ecosystems are our home and are essential to promoting harmony with nature and the Earth. “Mother Earth” is used because it represents humans and the planet we all live on, among other living species.

International Mother Earth Day is a global awareness campaign aimed at raising awareness of the threats to the well-being of this planet and the life it supports. The day also recognizes the shared responsibility, as stated in the 1992 Rio Declaration, to promote harmony with nature and the Earth in order to achieve a just balance between the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations of humanity.

The UN General Assembly declared April 22 as International Earth Day in 2009 by resolution A/RES/63/278. Nevertheless, the holiday was celebrated for the first time in 2010. The United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm in 1972 marked the beginning of global recognition of the interdependence of humans with other living species and our planet. The aim of this holiday is to encourage people living on earth to take steps to rid our planet of harmful activities and towards a cleaner and greener environment.
